Smart Poppy was established in 2005 by Sydneysider Nicola Baartse. (That’s me :) I started this site because as a makeup addict on a budget, I’ve always been horrified by the outrageous prices of makeup. I thought, “There must be a cheaper way for women to buy makeup!”
Smart Poppy is therefore dedicated to bringing Australian women the best in beauty products at the best of prices through our online cosmetics discount outlet. (You’re at the outlet now :)
As a discount outlet, we only buy products we can sell to you at ridiculously low prices! Our aim is to sell to you at around half the retail price. Occasionally this is not possible but that is what we always strive to bring you. Great, isn’t it!
Because we’re an outlet, you will find that the makeup often doesn’t come in a box, or the box is damaged, or the product’s packaging has some cosmetic damage which has not affected the actual product you paid for. But the products are brand new, and the box is thrown away as soon as you rip it open! We saved you the trouble :)
Smart Poppy is an adventure – you never know what you’re going to find here at half retail price. It’s a treasure trove waiting for you to explore, but if you find something you like, order it now! Because, when it’s gone, it’s gone!

We believe children should be respected as people, and protected as precious beings entrusted to adults for a short time. We speak out at any opportunity for the rights of children to be loved, protected and nurtured above all.
We believe people are responsible for the earth. We do what we can by using unbleached and recycled packaging wherever possible. We use only recycled paper for all our paperwork. We also recycle, and use recycled boxes in our storage facility whenever possible.
We believe beauty products should be tested for safety and urge all manufacturers to sign the Compact for Safe Cosmetics.
